The birds were singing outside my window when I first opened my eyes this morning.
I love March, even though we’ve been known to have freezing weather and snow in this third month of the year here in the Midwest.
I love March, because it is the herald of spring. And even if winter’s chill fingers still grip the earth, spring will not be held down.
We had tempestuous, stormy weather here a couple of days ago, which in three out of four years might have been the beginning of March.
I’m hoping Mother Nature forgot it was a leap year and that March rode in on that lion so it will go out like a lamb.
Oh happy day! March is here.
Hooray for March!
Hugs,
Kathy
Do you have any flowers blooming?
We do. Crocuses bloomed a couple of weeks ago. And you have been FPed! Hooray for you!
Hugs,
Kathy
Just had to show off your birthday present eh?
Yes. Just a few quick shots and got lucky with the bird in flight. I think I’m going to practice with my multiple shoot feature. I never use it and I think I might be able to catch better action shots with it.
Always something to learn.
COME ON SPRING!!!! nice pics Christine!!
Thanks, Sue.
What a lovely way to start my day! I love the header pic as well.
Nancy
I’m glad you liked it.
OH MY! Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!!! That is fantastic!
And so very worthy.
March is here indeed! Beautiful pictures, Christine!!! It is crazy weather in Iowa with wind and thunderstorms and maybe a little snow but no snow on the ground to speak of which is VERY strange. Normally have snow on the ground November -April!!! Not complaining!
That’s good news for you. March is definitely coming in like a lion where you are. It may be a stretch here, because today looks pretty lamb-like.
Appreciate the photos and the thoughts.
Thanks, LeRoy.
Hi Christine .. love the photos – and today here on the south coast of England .. it is gloriously warm – had a cold wind up until now … but it’s cooling off for the weekend .. great Spring photos .. thanks – Hilary
I took a ferry across the sound from France to England once. What a beautiful trip to a beautiful country. We saw the cliffs as we approached. We visited Salisbury briefly, then on to London for a few days. I loved every minute of it.
I’m glad you’re experiencing a beautiful day today.
Beautiful photos, Christine. And I LOVE your cheerful springy new look for the season; it’s like a brand new Easter dress and hat!
Oh. You would have to remind me of Easter dresses and hats. We had little patten leather shoes and often times a little white purse. Now I’m going to have to go looking for photos.
Excited about March, but it’s definitely in like a lion where I live — it snowed last night!
Here’s to springtime temps on the horizon!
🙂
Yeh. March can be that way. I’ll drink to that.
Gosh, you’re an upbeat lady!
Great post!
Today I am. Thanks for stopping by.
I will have to go outside and see if there are any signs of spring in my yard!
Beautiful photos!
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!
I hope you find something to brighten your day.
WOW! I’ve been waiting for photos of Spring! Wow! Wow! Wow!!!!
I’ll echo that. Wow!
I like the perspective on the last one…so different…
Thanks for stopping by. And for the kind words.
Love the hellibourrous (spelling?) in my garden they are the first to bloom and stay the longest. Congratulations making freshly pressed!
I love them too. I only discovered them a few years back.
Congrats on your FP Christine.
Thanks, Lisa.
It came as a BIG surprise to me, as you might well imagine.
I’m just kicking the green-eyed monster down right now. 😉
Well, don’t be too hard on yourself. Get yourself a four-leaf clover, a rabbit’s foot and whatever else you can think of. I’m pretty sure I just got lucky on this one.
Great shots showing the promise of warmer weather to come. 🙂
val
http:valentinedefrancis.wordpress.com
It’s coming. You can count on that.
Wow, I am SO envious of spring…. we are having a HUGE snowstorm today, up to 10 inches… happy march fool’s day? Beautiful photos Christine, especially love the bird flying…. p.s. congrats on being freshly pressed; I can be envious of that too 😉
I like snow. But I love it when March brings with it warm fresh days. That happens only sometimes here. The bird flying photo was just dumb luck. (As was getting FP, I’m afraid.)
OMG–you have been Freshly Pressed, Christine! I’m so happy for you, my friend! Hooray for you!
Hugs,
Kathy
Thanks, Kathy. A lucky day, I guess. My inbox is bursting. I’ll be chained to my computer today dealing with the comments. Not complaining.
Love it, my friend. Just enjoy!
My Tulips are just coming up and the bird are singing more now! Great shots.
Thanks. You have tulips? I’m envious. Of course even if they were up here, I wouldn’t have any. The deer think they’re candy.
I love springtime. I love it now in Texas. I loved it obsessively in Ohio and Michigan. Winter really wore me out up there. Welcome March. Lovely post with fabulous photos! Blessings to you…
Thanks, Carol Ann. I didn’t realize you were in Texas. I don’t always think of Texas as having four distinct seasons. I was surprised to learn that it gets cold there in winter. Or at least cool.
Johannes and I spent almost 20 years in Florida before coming to Texas. Texas has winter and the leaves turn in autumn, but the colors are not as bright as in colder places. Winter is mild, although last year was a record breaker. We had twelve inches of snow! This is not normal for Texas. Snow usually comes here as a dusting that disappears quickly.
I really like your blog. The colors are wonderful. The photos are beautiful. Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons. I’m glad their almost here. Thanks for sharing. Connie
http://7thandvine.wordpress.com/
Thanks for stopping by and leaving kind words, Connie. Spring is my all time favorite. I’m not sure what comes in second. I love them all.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m going to check out your blog right now.
Yay, March is certainly a sign of good things to come. I can’t wait for springtime to come myself and just finished writing a blog post about it, coincidentally!
It’s a good day for that. I love these very first days that feel like spring. Of course, we could still get a few winter days yet.
Well, even though we Torontonians haven’t had an actual winter this year, I’m still excited for Spring! Such a beautiful time of year!
Welcome, March!! 🙂
We really haven’t had much of a winter here this year either. That’s okay. I like snow, but I am always ready for spring.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great pictures! I love the little hints of spring that start popping up around town. Then again, I live in LA – so this started happening mid-January. But happy March!
Thanks. Do they even have seasons in LA? I thought it was blue skies all the time, or something like that. I’ve been to LA a couple of times and enjoyed it very much.
Yay March! I’m so ready for spring! I looove the first picture, that little guy is my favorite bird 🙂
The chickadees are cute little guys. I like most of the little birds. In fact, I just simply like most birds.
Thanks for stopping by. Here’s to spring.
congrats! your ideas are so beautiful as your photographs.
Thank you, IMA.
Wow !! Seeing such gr8 pics on the first day of the month definitely assures me that we’re going to have a gr8 month (and a year too) ahead 😀 Cheers
And please check out my latest post on LOVE – http://raajtram.wordpress.com/2012/02/28/let-the-time-decide/ and even my new PhotoBlog – http://raajclicks.wordpress.com/2012/02/29/oh-i-love-my-laptop/
I think so too.
Thanks for stopping by. I will check out your blogs when I recover from this.
Cheers.

Thanks for reblogging. I’ll be over to check it out asap.
Beautiful blog of yours. Blessings to you.
Thank you, Sherry.
Thanks for sharing those great photos! I love seeing those newly grown flowers! 🙂
I do too. Nothing like going out to the garden in early spring and seeing the fresh new growth and first flowers.
I am ready for spring too, but we had a snow fall today, the lake is frozen, I am not expecting Spring for a month or so, the trials of living in Ontario…
Congratulations on being freshly pressed.
I’m sorry to hear that. But I guess the only thing to do is to continue to enjoy the beauty of winter. It sounds lovely.
what a lovely breath of spring you’ve shared. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Geraldine.
Aww just sweet…March..
I love March. Of course my birthday is in March, so that could have something to do with it too.
Wilkommen frühling 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks, Talitha.
Nice to see a peek at Spring. Beautiful pictures!
It is, isn’t it? That’s how I felt too. We may still have a few winter days ahead, but this gives me hope for the future. Thanks for stopping by.
It was a beautiful and very nice sunny day here in the south as well!
I’m glad. Thanks for stopping by.
Congrats on FP!!! Very nice!
Thank you Chris.
SO ENJOYED YOUR PHOTO’S OF NEW LIFE … NEW BEGINNING’S IN STORE THAT WE ALL SO ANXIOUSLY ARE AWAITING FOR ….
We all are waiting, aren’t we? It’s nice to get a little preview.
I love March! Lots of birthdays and the first day of Spring. New beginnings. Maybe a surprise snow storm. Sun and warmth. Wind. Snow Geese. Marching on…
Same here. My birthday is on Monday, so maybe that also has something to do with my love of March. And let’s not forget St. Paddy’s Day.
Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Birthday!! I share this birthday month with two sisters, my daughter, and two nephews. I love all your photos!
Thanks, I needed to see some hint of Spring. Your photos did it for me.
I’m glad. It felt like spring putting it up.
Hard to imagine spring officially arrives in three weeks! I also know we’ve had some of our worst winter weather in March in the past, so anything goes. It got to 80 here today, was glad I’d left a couple short-sleeved tops in the closet, and sandals easy to get to. 🙂
I know. We’ve had pretty bad weather in March too. I have a photo from just last year of a big snowfall towards the end of March. But it’s nice to experience these kinds of days.
Based on my San Antonio experience, I’m glad you kept the short-sleeved tops and sandals easy to get to too. I’m going to have to do a little closet rearrangement soon.
Time go fast! Feel like January still here. Spring is coming in mid-March! Your pictures is beautiful. Great job! Followed your blog! 🙂
Thanks for the kind comments and the follow. Hopefully you will like what you see in the future as well. I do a variety of things.
love the pics ….
And I respectfully thank you.
C’mon, Spring! Even though it’s been a fairly mild winter, I’m ready.
I know exactly how you feel. We’ve had a mild winter too, but I’m ready for the warm breezes.
how sweet it is to feel the March air 🙂
It is sweet.
Thanks for stopping by. I love your name, by the way. Perfect.
First time here… loved your photos! I feel the same about March. http://kappers4.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/march-and-a-sigh-of-relief/
I’ll be back for more.
Thanks. I hope to see you again. I’ll be trying to check out everyone’s blog who commented. It may take me a while to make the rounds.
Lovely spring photos, thanks for bringing spring to my computer screen.
You’re welcome.
Thanks for stopping by.
Really nice pictures! I agree with Grumpa Joe, I just need some hints of Spring and Sun, and here I found some. Thank you for that! I really look forward to colorful flowers and gardening and planting. I cant’t wait for spring to come!!!
You’re welcome. Glad I could help.
Soon.
Love the photos, thank you for sharing. The first signs of spring are visible here in England as well 🙂
I love my blogging friends across the sea. I’ve been to England only once and hope to visit again.
We must be on similar seasons.
Thanks for stopping by.
England sure is lovely in spring which will be in a few weeks time. If ever you come over for another visit, try doing it in spring 😀
Yes. I think that would be nice.
Yay! Spring is here!
Yay!
First spring for us was a humongous blizzard that left us 2 feet deep in snow!
Oh now. Maybe you need to move south!
I actually love the snow. We don’t usually get that much here. I think it creates the most beautiful landscape. But I understand how you might get tired of it.
Wishing you warmer days.
HURRAY FOR YOU, being all FRESHLY PRESSED! You so deserve it!
The one thing in my life that is freshly pressed. Ha ha. Otherwise things are pretty rumpled around here. Ha ha.
It’s been fun. Thanks for your kind words.
Great photos, spring is here too in the North East of England. Many sightings of crocus, daffodils just waiting to come out, buds on trees and the grass is growing back for my horses (always nice for them).
I have a blogging friend in Maine who still has snow. So I think you’re very lucky. I just love the spring flowers.
Envious of the horses.
Looking at your chickadee photo reminds me to start turning some spring time bird houses soon.
Great post and photos Christine, and congrats of the freshly pressed.
It sure looks like spring weather will be here early this season
Dan
You know, I’d like to learn more about that. We put up a few birdhouses, mostly decorative I suppose. But I’m not sure of when to do what. One more thing to learn.
Thanks for stopping by.
Most of those mini bird houses I make are also just for inside the house, but I do from time to time get in the mood to make a few out door turned bird houses and keep some of the bark on the log that I use. I also never sand or paint them……Happy spring to you
Dan
Thanks for explaining that. I’m assuming there’s something on your blog about it. I’ll check it out.
Nothing on my blog about the birdy houses….But you just gave me a idea to write a post on how a turned bird house is made – now I know what I can use the butternut trimmings on…..thanks
D
What a wonderful way to start your day. The joy of nature greeting you as you finally roll out of bed to get that cup of Joe, yet the flowers have been up since sunrise and turned their faces (petals) to the warm inviting sun. I walk out onto the patio to sit down with that before menitoned cup of brew and relax to the sound of spring.
This is true happiness.
It makes me want to be there. It’s not quite warm enough to have a relaxing cup of tea (in my case) on the deck (also in my case), but it will be soon.
Enjoy.
Reblogged this on smartbarat.
Thanks for reblogging it. I’ll be over to check it out soon.
Beautiful photos! I live in Florida and just put 18 grown from seed tomatoes in the garden.Everything is blooming and its great! Your blog rocks! Thanks
Thank you. Now you’re kind of rubbing it in. It will be a while before we are able to plant anything here in the midwest. I hope you have a bountiful harvest—tomatoes parmesan, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes . . .
Wow, Christine, what happened? 😀 I’m so happy so many people get to see your beautiful wildlife photos.
Spring, we welcome thee.
Are you familiar with the WordPress Freshly Pressed page? You can see it here:
http://wordpress.com/#!/fresh/
I was lucky and they selected my post for that page. It gets a lot of views there and I have been swamped with emails and comments. (A nice problem to have.)
I hope you are having nice weather where you are.
Winter has gone,Spring come.I am waiting get new clothes on!!!
It’s not often I get a little poetry in my comments. Thank you for that. And thanks for stopping by.
Eh,I do not think I wanted to make a poetry…However,it seems I have made one by accident~~~
Eh,I do not think I wanted to make a poetry…However,it seems I have made one by accident~~~
First, congratulations on being “Freshly Pressed.” Second, I agree — march is something to be celebrated. I love to see bits of green pushing up through the dirt and browned leaves. So much promise!
Thank you. That’s it exactly: “bits of gree pushing up through the dirt and browned leaves.”
I love it.
Thanks for stopping by.
Great post, nice photos! I’ve been hearing the birds sing early in the morning too. I’m in Colorado and we got snow yesterday but a couple days ago it was warm and I noticed a spider crawling on the ground and a couple flying insects. If you look closely you can see the green grass blades coming up. I’m so excited for Spring! 🙂
Thank you. I love the sound of the birds in the morning. I actually thought it was a little early for that, but hey, I’ll take it.
I’ll bet it is nice in Colorado. I hope to take a trip there soon.
Thank you for sharing! I also LOVE March because of Spring! One AMAZING extra hour of sunshine for me in San Diego!
The rainbow of colors starting to show also makes me happy and keeps me calm:)
The days are feeling longer here already. I love it when it stays light at night. I’ll bet you have a lot of great weather in San Diego. I’ve never been there but have been to San Francisco, Carmel, and LA. Loved it.
Thanks for stopping by.
We’re still getting snow here… more snow, generally, then we’ve had all winter long.
Oh no. I hope you like the idea of hot cocoa in front of a fire. I actually love the snow and feel like we never get quite enough here. But by the time March rolls around I am ready for spring.
Our daffodils made their first appearance yesterday , was so nice to see , the crocuses and snow drops are bidding farewell 😦
You’re several steps ahead of us. I haven’t seen any daffodils yet. The early flowers are just beginning to bloom.
Thanks for stopping by.
Loved your line, “spring will not be held down.” And congratulations on getting Freshly Pressed!
Thank you. It came as a big surprise to me you can be sure.
So beautiful! Here in South Carolina spring has definitely begun…waking up to the chirping birds is a much needed change from the angry buzzer on the alarm, playing with plants a much needed respite from my studies!
I always found it much harder to focus on school work, all those years ago, once the warm air of spring arrived. Good luck with your studies.
Love your pictures!
Thank you. And thank you for stopping by.
In like a lion!
Thanks for stopping by. I commented on your post.
Ah, it’s almost exactly the same sight in my home town, too! Welcome, Spring!
Good to know. We’ll enjoy it together.
Thanks for stopping by.
I love that moment when you step out of the house in the morning, smell the air, and think to yourself “Yes! Today it’s Spring…” Greetings from Glasgow, Scotland, where the daffodils are just emerging.
Yes! Exactly.
We’re having stormy weather right now. So I’m waiting for the next moment when I “step out of the house in the morning, smell the air, and think to myself ‘Yes!”
I love my blogging friends across the ocean. I’ve not seen any daffodils here yet. But they are budding.
I hope to get to Scotland someday. It’s high on our to-visit list.
Lovely pix. Further proof that there does exist a creator! Can’t wait for the full bloom to blossom forth.
Agreed.
I am so enjoying your pictures. and FP? huge congratulations.
Thanks. The FP was a big surprise.
Love your pictures of the new life getting ready to bloom. Yes, I also love Spring, Summer, and Fall….. and like you, in March, I have a birthday also…. we are both lucky ! Just looking at your site I like it…. and now I’m following you, hope you don’t mind?
Ed
PS… Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday, and a great, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy Birthday back to you. What is the date of yours? Maybe we’re twins.
Erin go Bragh.
This is cool. Nice captures. nice descriptions…
Thank you. That is an interesting name. Not sure how you did it.
Beautiful pictures. I can’t wait for the time to change 🙂
Me too.
nice pics….fantastc
Thank you for stopping by.
What a lovely blog! Please read my blog “the thing about March” and note how much we both appreciate the month. Cheers!
I will. Thanks for pointing it out. And thanks for stopping by.
Cheers!
good shots!
Thank you. I got a new lens for my camera and I was trying it out.
Thanks for stopping by.

Nature is so beautiful!!
An endless supply of photographic opportunities. Thanks for stopping by, Cassandra.
thanks
You’re welcome.
Beautiful photos!
It’s nice of you to say so.
You are very lucky to get that bird photo shoot! Congrats. on being Freshly Pressed.
I was. I didn’t even realize I got it until I saw the photos on my computer.
Thank you.
Nice! A lovely dose of appreciation!
Today, I checked my veg plot and found my onions and garlics were sprouting! How exciting!
That is exciting. My husband does the veggies in our gardens. I don’t think he has anything perrennial. He still plants seeds and it’s a little early for that here.
Yay March!
Let’s celebrate! Although It’s kind of cold and rainy here today.
I couldn’t agree more as it allows an opportunity for new beginnings, snow melting, and sunshine to peer through.
Thank you for reminding me that there are good things to look forward to, even if it’s only a change of the month and renewal of the seasons. 😀
Pink
Exactly. We do need to remember there is always something to look forward to.
Especially love the bird shots…the flight’s an amazing catch & who doesn’t love a chickadee?
It was actually a very lucky catch.
What a breathtaking profile and blog you have created. Spring is worthy of celebration.and much much more. Since I am just getting started in “pressing words” so to speak, I am thrillled to have visited your page first.
Boy, do I have my work cut out.:)
Enjoy the unfolding and unwrapping of this glorious and Spiritually blessed season. When the lilacs bloom, I will once again open my arms and breathe the fragrance of life.
Good luck with your pressing words.
Thank you….keep pressing and paving the way. for other newcomers. and remember…Spring forward. 🙂
Very nice photos!
Thanks you Wallinspired. Now I’m curious about your blog and will have to visit.
Totally appreciate the mid-air bird… somehow that resembles you I am sure. Thanks for all the unique photos!
I don’t know if it resembles me. Maybe when I was a little younger. A turtle would do better.
Wings wide covering alot and busy. Dainty ideas too… take care.
Hellebores are my favorite!
They sure have timing on their side.

its my birth month 🙂
Happy early birthday, or belated. Thanks for stopping by.
welcome 🙂
I love March also, the promise of spring just around the corner!
It is a promise, isn’t it?
I wish march looked like that here. Outside my window, it’s snowing!
I’m sorry to hear that. Although I do think snowfalls are beautiful.
So do I , until march. Then I only want spring. In Norway we usually have snow from the end of October to March or April. 😉
March is when it all starts to come together. The glorious Thursday of the year 🙂
I hope so. 🙂
I really enjoyed all. You are – not only a a competent photographer – but a great artist and an appreciable nature lover as well.
Thank you. Those are all high compliments. And thanks for stopping by.
We are of like minds.
🙂
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed!
Thanks, Patti. It was a real kick.
April is the promise of spring month here in Sweden though it does seem to be making inroads early. Fingers crossed March won’t bury us under feet of snow like it typically does.
Grats on FP!
Welcome, my friend from Sweden. I love my international blogging friends. Isn’t the internet grand?
Quite! 🙂 And I guess March is filling the role of spring here now. I spotted the beginnings of daffodils yesterday! 😀
Hello paradise …
Wonderful photographs dear friend. Quite refreshing for me. Congrats.
‘mandakolathur’
It’s just awsum…….:)
good
Ah, yes, sweet spring is nearly here! Thank you for reminding us! . . . Our region has had some very unusual snowstorms lately!

I’d just like to thank everyone who left kind and complimentary comments, and also those of you who reblogged this post. I appreciate that you took the time to read and respond to my post.
Happy spring, when it finally arrives for good. It snowed here today. 🙂
The other day I watched a tree full of robins snacking on some tree berries and became so enlivened with the thrill that spring could be about to launch out from the murky dirty snow mounds that I was late for dinner out with my sweetie.
Spring….ah
Blue skies and green daffodil fingers,
CricketMuse
Sounds delightful. Hopefully your sweetie understood. We can’t miss out on spring.
I love pictures of birds in flight. You took a great one, Christine!
Thanks, Jolina. It was sheer luck. Now that I’ve remembered how to use my multiple shots feature on my Nikon, I hope to get more birds in flight.
